Some books are just a battle cry. Reading brings with it all kinds of fist pumping, foot stomping, and Amen saying. “The War of Art” is that kind of book.
This battle cry for the creative is filled with Steven Pressfield’s essays and explanations of how to conquer the battle of the mind that takes place when you are trying to make a creative venture your life’s work and your income source.
He has mastered and analyzed the discipline it takes to sit down and commit to being creative on a regularly basis. He destroys excuses for inaction, delivers a plan for consistent work, and names the creative’s adversary.
Resistance, he calls it, and he shows you exactly how resistance stands in your way and how to destroy it.
While this book can get a bit abstract and thick at times, it is still a book that will get you off your butt and help you get things done in your creative business. Seriously, I put the book down three or four times while reading just to accomplish some creative task that I was putting off. It is a serious and inspirational call to action.
Since I loved it and really do think it is a book worth reading, I have decided to give a copy of “The War of Art” away to a fantastic blog reader!!!

I liked you on Facebook!!! Pick me….I need more books….
Yes! I recently read another glowing review for this book and it sounds like such a breath of fresh air 🙂 One of the biggest challenges I have as a full-time photographer is trying to strike a balance between delivering the consistency of shots that clients expect and challenging myself into new ideas and out-of-the-box shots. It sounds like this book really speaks to the need to fuel that creative desire!
Thanks for sharing 🙂
I'd love to win this book because I need help with my excuses for inaction.
I'm just plain lazy. I need some form of inspiration and I feel that Pressfield's book will give me that creative kick in the ass that I sorely need.
I can always use motivation especially when I really don't like to do certain projects.
I would love to win because I am the biggest procrastinator on the planet. I wait until the very last minute and then scurry about like a crazy maniac…;0)

This book is definitely one that I would thoroughly enjoy. As a "science type", I often find myself struggling with being creative, and contrary to beliefs scientists need to use a lot of creativity! I'm also trying to steadily improve my photography and writing, and this book should provide so much needed motivation and inspiration.
I would love to win this because I love art.
I am full of creativity, but I have a hard time channeling it sometimes. I think this could be a great book!

This book seems pretty perfect for me. It seems that whenever I want to do something creative, or feel that creative spark, I can never actually go through with whatever project I want to start. It's like I'm lacking in motivation. This book seems to be the perfect way to get that creativity out!
Btw, I'm already following you on FB. I was your 200th fan. 😉
i would love to win this because it sounds like it would be very helpful!
My son-in-law is an aspiring artist and this sounds like a great book for him. He has created some good work & I would like to see him continue.

I could really use this book RIGHT NOW! Suffering from a creative block is the worst especially when its part of your job!
A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy. ~Edward P. Morgan
