My business is certainly still in its baby years. So far in my journey, all of my concerns and questions have been about trying to create a sustainable business that makes some money, the simplest definition of successful for sure.
Maybe that’s all wrong, though. I feel like I am at a juncture, like I am no longer drowning in new-business pedagogy, and I get to stick my head out of the water for a bit of air. And maybe I have been asking all kinds of wrong questions.
I need to start asking new questions beyond, “How can I make my business successful?”
I need to start asking myself questions like: How can my business help people? Can my business have moral significance? Is my faith apparent? Am I promoting positive messages about body image and the beauty and value that people possess? Does my business show a willingness to share and give?
I can make no predictions if success will or will not come to my little business, but I can make sure that I am proud of what my business represents. I am going to try to do that. It’s my new definition of success.
Ending with a song, just ’cause it makes me happy 🙂
P.S. I want to start new initiatives to make these goals alive in my business. I would love it if you join me, and we can help each other. Let me hear from you in the comments or send me an email. Let me know what you want your business to show beyond just “being successful.”
